We are recruiting a part-time Accountant & Payroll Processor to join us in Summer-Fall 2022. The ideal candidate will collaborate with team members across multiple departments and fulfill the accounting needs of a rapidly growing biotech startup. We are recruiting a part-time Accountant & Payroll Processor to join us in Summer-Fall 2022. The ideal candidate will collaborate with team members across multiple departments and fulfill the accounting needs of a rapidly growing biotech startup. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is organized, proactive, and upbeat to work with us!
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations in accounts receivable / payable and payroll (e.g., employee state tax registration and other payroll-related regulatory requirements)
- Prepare internal / external financial reports (e.g., company tax, valuation, due diligence)
- Advise on budget preparation, projections, and analysis / tracking
- Compile data for use in budget forecasts and development and produces regular operating statements
- Evaluate actual performance and develops conclusions and/or recommendations to address potential budget variances
- Consult with team concerning the accounting and financial implications of existing and projected department activities
- Maintain currency with laws and regulations governing accounting policies and procedures
- Advise on financial policies and procedures, agency laws and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles
- Assist team in revising and automating accounting processes
- Design formats to assist in reporting and analysis
- Recommend controls to ensure reliability of processes and integrity of data
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or relevant field
- 5 years of working experience as an accountant, controller, or financial assistant
- Proficient use of productivity applications and finance platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, Bill.com)
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or relevant field
- Previous working experience in a startup setting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize assignments efficiently
- Ability to review statutory / legislative / regulatory language and apply requirements
- Ability to travel based on client and business needs
- Exceptional knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
