Bentley Wingert, Ph.D.

Dr. Wingert received his Ph.D. in Computational Biology from the joint University of Pittsburgh – Carnegie Mellon program in 2021 after previously receiving his M.S. and B.S. in Biochemistry from Iowa State University. His research during his Ph.D. focused on a number of different problems involved in the drug discovery pipeline. He gained experience with virtual screening for small molecules by taking part in annual NIH Drug Discovery Data Resource (D3R) competitions as well as working on projects with wet lab collaborators. He also worked on analyzing intrinsic dynamics of proteins using molecular dynamics simulations as well as coarse grained elastic network models in order to evaluate the dynamics of large numbers of proteins such as the Class A GPCR family and the PDZ domain.
