New Equilibrium Biosciences discovers drugs that target intrinsically disordered proteins through its computational-experimental IDP-Shift platform, with the mission of creating transformative medicines for patients with life-threatening diseases. We are leveraging IDP- Shift to rationally design drug molecules for regulating multiple IDPs in a wide range of diseases including Oncology and Neurodegenerative disorders.

New Equilibrium is seeking a biophysicist to join a team of highly motivated scientists dedicated to the delivery of life-extending therapeutics for patients. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the progression of our multi-disciplinary drug discovery programs and actively participate in experimental design and implementation, in our highly collaborative environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop biophysical assays to assess protein ligand interactions
  • Support small molecule screening in hit-to-lead optimization campaigns from independent design, development, and implementation of biochemical or biophysical experimental approaches
  • Evaluate new assay technologies and develop novel approaches to support drug discovery programs
  • Perform data analysis and clearly convey interpretations to multi-disciplinary project team members and external colleagues

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biophysics or related field, or a Bachelor or Master of Science
  • Experience in applying SPR, NMR, MS or other biophysical approaches to characterize small molecule protein interactions
  • Solid understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics and their application to assay design and development
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and communicate data in a clear manner
  • Significant scientific curiosity regarding scientific instrumentation and novel assay approaches to support drug discovery programs

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable regarding structural biology approaches such as X-Ray crystallography, SAXS, FIDA, native MS, HDxMS or cryo-EM as applied in drug discovery
  • Recombinant protein production experience including construct design, cloning, expression, and purification
  • Protein analytical skills such as LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, Western, SEC-MALS, IEX, or HPLC/FPLC
  • Experience in compound/protein sample preparation and assay automation
