New Equilibrium Biosciences discovers drugs that target intrinsically disordered proteins through its computational-experimental IDP-Shift platform, with the mission of creating transformative medicines for patients with life-threatening diseases. We are leveraging IDP- Shift to rationally design drug molecules for regulating multiple IDPs in a wide range of diseases including Oncology and Neurodegenerative disorders.

New Equilibrium is seeking a Cell Biologist to join a team of highly motivated scientists dedicated to the delivery of life-extending therapeutics for patients. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the progression of our multi-disciplinary drug discovery programs and actively participate in experimental design and implementation, in our highly collaborative environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identify cell lines relevant to targets and indication of interest
  • Design and develop high throughput screening assays (cell-based and molecular biology-based) for small molecules
  • Create and validate screening cell lines models using CRISPR or lentiviral technology
  • Use literature survey to solve specific research problems
  • Learn and implement new experimental techniques that can answer critical scientific questions and advance programs
  • Identify and implement scientific and logistical solutions in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Contribute to a focused, team-oriented atmosphere and assist colleagues when needed
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology or equivalent / M.S. with 4 years / B.S. with 6 years of experience in the industry with a proven track record of productivity in cell-based and molecular biology-based assay development
  • Can perform complex research lab assignments independently
  • Can contribute to experimental design and problem resolution within project scope
  • Can develop and implement plans to ensure the timely completion of multiple experimental studies in parallel
  • Can contribute to the review, compilation, evaluation, and analysis of experimental results, and prepare scientific summary reports of pertinent conclusions
  • Can present data and the interpretation of experimental results at intra- and inter-group scientific meetings within the company
  • Can write clear technical reports and make effective oral presentations of ongoing studies to others in the department
  • Can maintain current knowledge of relevant program advances and scientific literature

Desirable Qualifications

  • Strong background in oncology research
  • Experience with state-of-the-art gene targeting technologies for engineering cell line models, including CRISPR and shRNA
  • Experience with flow cytometry, RT-PCR, ELISA, Western blots and other relevant techniques and data analysis
  • Experience with transfection, transduction, and electroporation techniques for primary or difficult cell line models
  • Familiarity with analysis of genomic and gene expression data sets
